Mesothelioma Lung CancerMesothelioma lung cancer is a devastating form of cancer that is somewhat rare, but very devastating. This cancer is caused by the exposure to asbestos, and can lay undetectable for up to 30 years. Unfortunately, most people who suffer from Mesothelioma are not able to be cured do to the ineffective reaction to current Mesothelioma treatments. While many people have heard the word Mesothelioma somewhere, most people do not know the scientific specifics of the diease. What Mesothelioma actually is is a cancer caused by tumors of the mesothelium. The mesothelium is a tissue made up of mesothelial cells that line the abdominal, chest, and heart cavities. While these tumors can be benign, many of then are unfortunately malignant. While this disease is quite rare, it is becoming more and more common. There is one particular group of people that are susceptible to Mesothelioma, and should get checked out sooner rather than later. The people at risk for this horrible lung cancer are any people who have been exposed to asbestos fibers. For a long time people were required to work with materials containing asbestos and were not given the appropriate attire and tools to deal with the product safely. Asbestos exposure is so harmful, that even if someone has only been exposed to the materials once in a small dose, they are at risk to develop this cancer. In fact, even the families of the workers are at risk because asbestos is often carried in clothing. Many people wonder if there is someone to blame for this serious condition. The answer is sometimes the employers of the companies that knowingly exposed workers to these harmful fibers. In recent years many people have sought legal action against the people who have caused families to suffer beyond explanation. While lawsuits can not save someone’s life, they can certainly help get the name of the disease out there and make people take the responsibility they have seriously. © 2004-2008 Lung Cancer Research Today.
